Defensively, TJ Scannell (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan), Judson Crockett (Austin, Texas / Westlake), and Jaden Powell (Denton, Texas / Guyer) each recorded six tackles, while Jonathan Nwobodo (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) forced a fumble and added a sack.
The Rundown
Trinity opened the game at Berry with a strong early rhythm on its second possession. After falling behind 8–0, the Tigers orchestrated a methodical 13-play, 72-yard drive that spanned just over six minutes. Franklin connected on several efficient short passes to Johnny Milo (The Woodlands, Texas / Caney Creek) and Tavarez to move the chains, while Jackson Williams (Manor, Texas / Travis) and Maddox Morkovsky (New Braunfels, Texas / New Braunfels) chipped in key runs to keep the drive balanced. The march stalled inside the Berry red zone, but Rhoades converted a 24-yard field goal to put Trinity on the board late in the first quarter, cutting the deficit to 8–3
In the second quarter, the Tigers' defense capitalized on a turnover to attempt to swing momentum. Anthony Njoku (Richmond, Texas / Travis) intercepted a Berry pass deep in Trinity territory to halt a promising Vikings drive. Later in the half, Franklin once again led the Tigers on a sustained 13-play series that began inside their own 10-yard line. Precision passing to Tavarez, Lamont Nickleberry (Childress, Texas / Childress), and Milo helped push the ball downfield. With the clock winding down, Rhoades drilled a 37-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter to make it an 8–6 contest going into halftime.
From there, Berry's offense began to take control. The Vikings scored on a pair of short rushing touchdowns in the third and early fourth quarters, extending their lead. Trinity's offense moved the ball between the 20s but struggled to finish drives in the second half.
Despite a hard-fought effort and a strong first half, Trinity could not overcome Berry's ground attack in the final two quarters. The Tigers fell to the Vikings by a final score of 29–6.
