DESTIN, Fla – No. 12 Tiger Men's Golf finishes in a tie for fourth out of 24 teams after the final day of Golfweek October Classic.
The Tigers took home a team score of 289 today, finishing with a total score of 862 and tying with Pomona-Pitzer Colleges. Mary Hardin-Baylor won the tournament with a team score of 847 and Wittenberg was in second at 851. Transylvania was just two strokes ahead of Trinity at 860.
Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) was astounding on the course today. After starting two-over through four holes, Sandhu found his rhythm and proceeded to shoot four-under through his next fourteen holes that included three birdies in a row on holes 10 through 12. Neel jumped 20 places to finish in a tie for 27th and +5 (75-74-69) for the tournament.
Andre Follmer (Austin, Texas / Lake Travis) also had an excellent day, as he went one-under on the day. Andre went +1 on the front, and then carded four birdies on the back. Andre finished the tournament in a tie for 37th and a +7 (75-75-70) score.
Carter Code (Calgary, Alberta, Canada / Manning) and
Jeffrey Forster (Santa Barbara, California / San Marcos) both shot 75 in their final round. Forster had three birdies and Code had one. Code finished in a tie for 30th while Forster was in a tie for 37th.
Sam Rossi (Los Angeles, California / Loyola) ended his tournament with a 75. Rossi had four birdies and was only one-over on the back nine. He was the top finisher for the Tigers in the tournament at seventh place.
As a team, the Tigers were second amongst all teams in par 3 scoring (even) and tied for third for the most birdies (51). Rossi was second among all players at par 3 scoring (-4) and third in par 5 scoring (-5).
Looking Ahead
The Tigers will take a break till the spring season where they will play their first tournament, hosted by Berry College during the first week of March.
