#12 Tiger Men's Golf Rallies to Win Carla Spenkoch Invite

SAN ANTONIO – The 12th-ranked Trinity University men's golf team staged a furious comeback over the final holes to win the inaugural Carla Spenkoch Invitational at The Quarry Golf Club on Tuesday.

The Tigers trailed by double figures after the first two rounds of play on Monday, as LeTourneau University (TX) shot two-under in each round as a team to build an 11-shot lead over the host school. LeTourneau started hot again on Tuesday, but Trinity would not be denied as the team shot a tournament-best and six-under-par 278 team score. The two teams were tied after the final hole, but Trinity won the tiebreaker with its fifth golfer's third-round score. Trinity shot a one-over 853 (286-289-278) and LeTourneau was also at one-over 853 (282-282-289). The University of Dallas (TX) was third (879), followed by the University of St. Thomas (TX), Millsaps College (MS), the University of Redlands (CA), and Texas Lutheran University.

Carter Code (Calgary, Canada / Manning) also won medalist honors after shooting his third straight round under par on Tuesday, finishing with a total of 207 (69-68-70) to edge teammate Sam Rossi (Los Angeles, Calif. / Loyola) in second place by just one shot. Code finished with four birdies today – including two on his final six holes to help the Tigers catch up to LeTourneau. Rossi finished with a three-round score of 208 (71-70-67), which included an outstanding 67 on Tuesday that was the low round of the tournament. He had three birdies and also carded his second eagle of the week that nearly caught up to Code for the individual title.

Andre Follmer (Austin, Texas / Lake Travis) tied for 11th after shooting 217 (72-77-68), while Jeffrey Forster (Santa Barbara, Calif. / San Marcos) tied for 20th with a score of 221 (74-74-73) for the week. Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) was in 24th place individually after shooting 224 (74-77-73), but his score today turned out to be the tiebreaker. His two-over-par 73 was well in front of the fifth golfer for LeTourneau, lifting the Tigers to the team win.

The remaining six Trinity golfers also played as individuals this week and showcased the team's depth for the 2025-26 season. Brody Grieb (Bend, Ore. / Summit) led the group with his one-under-par score of 212 (69-73-70) and tied for fifth place individually. Ethan Sullivan (Norfolk, Mass. / King Philip) shot even-par 213 (73-68-72) to tie for seventh, giving the Tigers four total golfers to score even par or better this week. Samuel Walker (Aurora, Colo. / Regis Jesuit) shot a 217 (71-71-75) to finish in a tie for 11th, while Aiden Marlow (San Antonio, Texas / Churchill) finished at 220 (70-74-76) to tie for 20th in the event. Alex Place (San Antonio, Texas / Roosevelt) shot 226 (74-78-74) and Barret Wisener (Dallas, Texas / Sachse) finished with a 235 (74-77-84) over the two-day event.
