Trinity Swimming & Diving Teams Take the Lead to Open SCAC Championships

GARLAND, Texas – The 2025 Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships began on Wednesday with Trinity University taking the lead after scoring more than 100 points in both meets.

The 17th-ranked Tiger women's team scored 116 points and leads second-place Southwestern University (TX) by 26 points after two events. Trinity won both the Championship and Consolation Finals in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay in this evening's action. The Tiger women's team also set a new meet record in the 200-yard medley relay and earned "B cut" qualifying times for the NCAA Championships in both races.

Trinity's men are tied with Colorado College for the top spot after day one as both teams scored 106 points in the two events. Colorado College won the 200 medley relay Championship and Consolation Finals to start the evening, then Trinity came back with convincing wins in both the Championship and Consolation Finals of the 800 free relay.

Coach Speak
"The women got off to a roaring start," exclaimed Head Coach Cathleen Pruden. "All four relays were impressive, and we had so many places where we were better than last year. The momentum is rolling! The men's team made very clear that we are here to compete," continued Coach Pruden. "This is a strong start for us and we're eager to see what we can do in some individual events tomorrow."

Trinity will continue the second day of action at the SCAC Championships with the swimming prelims tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m., followed by the finals at 6:00 p.m. Events on the schedule tomorrow include the 500-yard freestyle, the 200-yard individual medley, the 50-yard freestyle, and the 400-yard medley relay.
