Tiger Men's Hoops Dribbles Into SCAC Tournament

Trinity University Men's Basketball travels to Irving for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) championship. 
 
The Tigers (21-4, 14-2 SCAC) split their final two games of the regular season. After dropping game one to nationally-ranked St. Thomas, the squad bounced back with an 83-76 win over Colorado College. Ty Williams (Pearland, Texas / Pearland) totaled 37 points on the weekend on 14-22 shooting and put in a career-high 22 points against Colorado College. Against St. Thomas, Dean Balo (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) put in 12 points on 4-8 shooting and knocked down 2 threes. Against Colorado, Will Bronson (Dallas, Texas / Jesuit) totaled 14 points while also adding eight boards. Zach Fenn (Covington, Louisiana / Saint Paul's) extended his steal streak to 28-games, totaling five steals on the weekend. The Tigers finished the season as the top seed in the gold bracket, two wins above second-place Schreiner. 
 
Preview - SCAC Tournament
 
The Tigers will travel to Irving for the SCAC Championship Tournament this weekend. As the first seed, Trinity has earned a first-round bye. The Tigers will wait with anticipation as they will face the winner of Colorado College and Concordia. They will play against one of those teams on Saturday, March 1st at 7:00 PM. 
 
On the Concordia Tornados: The Tornados finished their season with a 13-12 (10-6 SCAC) record. After losing to Trinity in January, Concordia went on a six-game winning streak. After that, the Tornados posted a 2-2 record in their last four games. Joey Ramirez leads CTX in scoring at 18.2 points per game this season. Last time out, the Tigers narrowly defeated Concordia 84-80 and are 8-4 all time against Concordia. 
 
On the Colorado College Tigers: The Tigers of black and yellow posted a 13-12 (9-7 SCAC) record at the end of the 2024-25 regular season. Colorado took two losses in their final games of the season. The first came at the hands of Schreiner on a last-second buzzer beater. Then, Trinity handed them a seven-point defeat in their most recent game. CC is led by junior forward Asher Nofziger, who averages 17.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. After the win, Trinity moved their all time record to 30-13 against Colorado.

If the Tigers prevail, they will play in the SCAC Championship on Sunday at 2:00 PM.
