SAN ANTONIO – The 10th-ranked Trinity University women's tennis team continued their fine form from the weekend, brushing aside 23rd-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College (MN) with another clean sweep and a 7-0 win.

It was an excellent start to the evening for the Tigers as they carried their doubles domination from the weekend into today's matchup, winning two of the three matches and snatching the doubles point. First to finish was the reliable senior duo of Ellie Hughes (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) and Olivia Kim (Phoenix, Arizona / Desert Mountain) at #2, who swept their opponent with ease, winning 6-1. Next to finish was the #3 partnership of Ruth Hill (Abilene, Texas / Abilene) and first-year Lauren Tin, who comfortably won 6-3, and in doing so claimed the doubles point for the Tigers. This eased the pressure on the outcome of the final match at #1, as the dynamic Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Ponderosa) and Trinity Levy (Camarillo, California / Weil Tennis Academy) took their opponents right to the wire, but lost 6-4. Nevertheless, the doubles finished in a 2-1 victory for the Tigers and got the evening of tennis off to a great start.

The Tigers showcased the strength in depth of their squad as they overpowered the Gusties on all six singles lines this evening, with the match on paper proving to be a much simpler affair than anticipated. First to finish was the skillful sophomore Andrade at #6, who effortlessly defeated her opponent in straight sets 6-2, 6-0, avenging her doubles loss from earlier. Next up was the reliable Hill at #1, who kept calm and put the Tigers on the brink of victory winning 6-2, 6-1. Sitting on a 3-0 lead at this point, the Tigers needed one more win to secure the match early and send the Gusties packing. This job was left in the hands of the fiery first-year Lucy Nabedrick (Plymouth, Minnesota / Wayzata) at #4, who like Andrade and Hill, beat her opponent in straight sets with ease, winning 6-2, 6-2, and in turn, taking the pressure off of her fellow Tigers' backs as she secured the win. Next to finish was the formidable Levy at #5, who kept the Tigers' clean sweep hopes alive, with a confident 6-3, 6-1 win. The Gusties continued to push all they could in an attempt to put themselves on the scoreboard. Things got close in the final two matches as both Hughes at #3 and Kim at #2, were taken to tiebreaks in their sets. However, the Gusties' efforts were in vain as Hughes battled through her first set, overcoming the tiebreak hurdle by winning 7-6 (7-2), and then calmly won the second 6-2, putting the tigers 6-0 up at this stage. It was a slightly less simple affair for the tenacious Kim as her match went to a tiebreak in both sets; however, Kim held her nerve and delivered two excellent tiebreak performances, and won the match 7-6 (7-3), and 7-6 (10-8), delivering a sucker punch to the Gusties with the 7th point of the evening for the Tigers.
