Georgetown, Texas – The 12th-ranked Trinity University men's golf team finished in second place at the West Region Invite on Tuesday, hosted at the Berry Creek Country Club by Southwestern University.
The Tigers shot a two-day score of 882 (292-286-304) and finished 13 shots off the winners in LeTourneau, tied with Mary Hardin Baylor. The Crusaders started the day 11 shots behind Trinity, shooting an impressive 293 in the final round to grab a share of the runner-up spot. Hosts Southwestern finished nine shots behind in fourth with a total score of 891 across the three rounds.
Junior
Carter Code (Calgary, Canada / Manning) won a tournament for the first time in his college career after shooting a 73 in his final round to finish three-under (213). Code's first tournament win came courtesy of consistent high-quality golfing across three rounds. On day one he finished even-par after the first round before shooting four-under in the second. A one-over 73 on day two meant that Carter finished with a three-shot lead at three-under. He knocked in three birdies on the day, bringing his total to 15 for the tournament - the most of any player.
Individual
Jeffrey Forster shot in even par in his final round of play to take 12th place over and finish at 6-over for the tournament. Forster parred every hole on the front nine and nabbed two birdies on the back.
Sam Rossi (Los Angeles, Calif. / Loyola) finished in 15th place after shooting 223 (72-73-78). Eight birdies in the first two rounds sent Rossi into day two at just one-over in fifth place, but a difficult final round meant he fell down the leaderboard.
Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) ended just one place behind Rossi in 16th with a final score of 224 (75-72-77). Four bogeys in his first six holes gave Sandhu a difficult start on day one and was unable to make up lost ground and break back into the top 10.
Jacob Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) took 19th place after shooting an 80 in his final round, finishing the tournament at plus-10.
Conor Hess (Jacksonville, Fla. Episcopal School of Jacksonville) finished in 29th place with a 233 (77-80-76) for the week.
