#12 Women's Golf Wins Fifth Straight SCAC Championship

WHITNEY, Texas – The 12th-ranked Trinity University Women's Golf team won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship after hitting a team score of 335 in Tuesday's final round of the three-day event.

Today's win marks the fifth straight conference title and the ninth championship overall for the women's golf team. Following in second place was Southwestern University, shooting 47 strokes behind Trinity for the weekend. St Thomas came in third followed by University of Dallas in fourth. Schriener University and Texas Lutheran University came in fifth and sixth respectively. Centenary College and McMurry University rounded out the field, coming in seventh and eighth. 

After her record-breaking performance in round two yesterday, Lauren Huddleston (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek) brought home her first individual SCAC win. This marks Trinity's fourth individual SCAC champion in a row, two of the champions are still competing at Trinity. Alejandra Sanchez De la Fuente Molino (Marbella, Spain / Atalaya) won in 2023, and Kiona Hsiu won in 2024. Huddleston shot a three-round score of 239 (81-72-86) to edge her two teammates in second and third.

Right behind Huddleston in the individual championship was Jessica Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) shooting a 240 (76-84-80) for the weekend. Just one stroke back from second was Sanchez De La Fuente Molino shooting 241 (82-77-82) on the weekend to finish third. Carmen Kennett (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) earned a top-10 finish as well, finishing ninth with a score of 254 (87-80-87). Kate Schulle (Cedar Park, Texas / Cedar Park) came in twelfth with her score of 264 (89-87-88) to put all five Tigers in the top 12 individually. 

Huddleston, Mason, and Sanchez De La Fuente Molino all earned a spot on the All-SCAC 1st Team by finishing in the top five, while Kennett earned 2nd Team All-SCAC honors by finishing in the top 10, and Schulle was named All-SCAC Honorable Mention.

With victory, the Tigers have secured the SCAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Williamsburg, Va., beginning on May 13.
