The Trinity Tigers win game three to secure the series sweep against Centenary.
The Tigers (30-7, 23-4 SCAC) rounded off this three game series with a 6-0 win against Centenary.
Ella Whitacre (Roanoke, TX. / Byron Nelson) led the Tigers with 2 hits on the day. The Tigers offence came together to put up 8 hits against Centenary's pitching staff.
Megan Kriechbaum (Cedar Hills, Utah / Pleasant Grove) pitched all seven innings of today's matchup, collecting an outstanding 10 strikeouts and holding Centenary scoreless.
Game Three - Trinity 6, Centenary 0
Kriechbaum came out throwing gas from the jump, picking up four K's in the first two innings. The Trinity Tigers' offense woke up in the bottom of the second when
Peyton Bowser (Arvada, Colorado / West) hit an RBI single up the middle to put Trinity on the board first, 1-0.
Kriechbaum collected another three strikeouts in the top of the third, holding Centenary scoreless. In the bottom of the inning, Whitacre had a leadoff single. She then used her wheels to steal second base and get herself into scoring position. A single to the left side by
Mariana Garcia (Goodyear, Arizona / Canyon View) would then score Whitacre easily.
Leah Gonzalez (San Antonio, TX. / East Central) kept the rally going with another RBI single to put the Tigers up 3-0 at the end of the third.
In the top of the fifth, Kriechbaum collected her ninth and tenth strikeouts of the day, a clear indication of her dominance in the circle. The Tigers' hot bats would continue to punish in the bottom of the inning, led off by a rocket double off the left-center wall by
Carsyn Lee (Flower Mound, TX. / Flower Mound). Lee would later make it to third on a sac fly, and would score off of a defensive error by Centenary.
Abigail Miller (Winnetka, Calif. / El Camino Real) then hit an RBI double to left field, followed by yet another RBI base hit by
Angela Baltzell (Antioch, Calif. / Freedom). Altogether, the Tigers gathered three runs in this inning, putting them ahead 6-0.
Trinity's defence would continue to be lights out for the remainder of the game, securing another Tiger series sweep with a 6-0 win over Centenary.
