Amy Benson Named Academic All-American® by CSC

GREENWOOD, Ind. — Trinity University swimmer Amy Benson (Newmarket, N.H. / Phillips Exeter Academy) has been named a 3rd Team Academic All-American® by College Sports Communicators, recognizing her outstanding achievements in both academics and athletics.

Benson, a senior majoring in biology, has excelled in the pool and the classroom, maintaining a 4.0 GPA while earning numerous accolades in collegiate swimming. Her dedication and commitment to excellence have made her a standout student-athlete at Trinity University. This is the second straight year that a Trinity swimmer has earned the award, as Benson joins 2024 recipient Emma Hagan (Overland Park, Kan. / Olathe East). Trinity had five CSC Academic All-Americans® during the 2023-24 school year.

This season, Benson earned a host of honors, including selection as a CSCAA All-American (2nd Team) in the 50 freestyle and 800 freestyle relay. She dominated the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships, winning titles in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 200 freestyle; as well as joining teammates for wins in the 200 freestyle relay, 200 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay, 400 medley relay, and 800 freestyle relay. Benson was named SCAC Women's Swimmer of the Meet and twice recognized as SCAC Women's Swimmer of the Week (Weeks five and seven). Additionally, she earned a spot on Trinity University's Dean's List for Fall 2024.

The Academic All-America® program, established by College Sports Communicators, honors student-athletes across NCAA and NAIA divisions who demonstrate exceptional academic and athletic performance. Benson's selection places her among the nation's elite student-athletes.

Benson's recognition as an Academic All-American® highlights her contributions to Trinity University's swimming and diving program and her commitment to academic success. She joins a distinguished group of student-athletes who have earned this prestigious honor.
