Tiger Men's Tennis Advances to SCAC Championship With Win Over Concordia

WACO, Texas – The Trinity University men's tennis team claimed a 4-0 victory over Concordia University (TX) in Saturday morning's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals.

The Tigers improved their season record to 15-10 and will play for the SCAC Tournament Championship tomorrow afternoon against Southwestern University. Concordia closed its season at 10-8 and was eliminated from the tournament.

Doubles action opened with Conor Kaczmarczyk (Aurora, Colo. / Regis Jesuit) and Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) earning a 6-3 win at #3. Aashish Dhanani (Austin, Texas / Westwood) and Eric Liao (Tapei, Taiwan / Boca Prep) followed that up with a 6-3 win at line two. The top line was left unfinished, with the Tigers taking the doubles point.

The Tigers carried the momentum into singles play, grabbing quick first-set wins at the bottom of the lineup. Eric Liao secured a 6-1, 6-0 win at line five, and Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win at line six to push the Tigers ahead 3-0. Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) then clinched the match for Trinity with a 6-3, 6-2 win at #4 singles.

Trinity will play for the SCAC Championship tomorrow against second-seeded Southwestern at 9am.
