No. 12 Tiger Women's Tennis Falls To Pomona In NCAA Round of 16

CLAREMONT, CALIFORNIA – The No. 12 Trinity Women's Tennis team capped off a strong season with a determined effort in the NCAA Tournament, coming up short in a 4-0 battle against Pomona-Pitzer in the Round of 16.

Doubles began with Olivia Kim (Phoenix, Arizona / Desert Mountain) and Ruth Hill (Abilene, Texas / Abilene) on court at line two, where they fell 6-1. Ellie Hughes (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) and Lauren Tin (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) evened things up with a dominant 6-2 win at line three. The deciding match came down to line one, where Trinity Levy (Camarillo, California / Weil Tennis Academy) and Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) put up a strong fight but eventually lost, 6-3. This gave Pomona a 1-0 lead going into the singles matches.

In singles, Hughes was first to finish at line four, falling 6-1, 6-0. Kim followed at line two, dropping her match 6-1, 6-0. Hill fought hard at line one but in the end she was defeated 6-3, 6-1, clinching the overall match for Pomona-Pitzer.

The remaining matches were left unfinished but showed promise. Lucy Nabedrick (Plymouth, Minnesota / Wayzata) was leading 6-1, 5-4 at line three. Levy was in a close battle at line five taking the first set 6-4 and was behind but showed grit in the second set with a 1-4 scoreline. At line six, Andrade had taken the first set 6-3 and was in a second set battle with a 3-4 score.

The Tigers showed grit and heart until the very last point. While this season comes to a close, their determination and spirit promise a bright future ahead. Trinity will rise, rebuild, and roar again next year.
