Tiger Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Trinity University's volleyball program has been honored with the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT, recognizing the Tigers' commitment to academic excellence during the 2024–25 academic year.

The award celebrates collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Trinity joins a record-breaking group of more than 1,450 programs nationwide that earned the distinction this year. INTENT, a digital platform connecting student-athletes and military veterans with career opportunities, sponsored the award for the first time this season. The AVCA Team Academic Award has recognized academic achievement in volleyball since 1992.

This is the sixth consecutive year - and ninth overall - that Trinity has been recognized for this accomplishment with the AVCA. The Tigers received the award for the first time in 2009, then picked up back-to-back honors in 2013 and 2014, and the current streak began in 2020.

Trinity finished the 2024 season with a 26-7 overall record that included a 14-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark that was good enough to take the Regular Season Championship. The Tigers won their 22nd overall SCAC Championship and made it to the NCAA Playoffs for the 29th time in school history. Trinity reached the Regional Finals for the fifth consecutive season before falling to sixth-ranked Emory University (GA), and were ranked 13th in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III poll.
