Tiger Women's Soccer Takes The Field Against Concordia and Texas Lutheran

The Tigers returned home with a bang this past weekend, recording 2 straight wins against Hardin-Simmons and McMurry University, beating Hardin-Simmons Friday night in a 2-1 win, and beating McMurry 2 days later in a 4-1 win.

SAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Alex Doran

Sophomore Alex Doran has been selected as the SAA Offensive Player of the Week.

From the SAA Player Release:

Doran led the Trinity women's soccer team to a pair of home wins over the weekend, defeating Hardin-Simmons University (TX) 2-1 on Friday, and finishing with a 4-1 win over McMurry University (TX) on Sunday evening. Doran scored three goals and an assist across the two games and leads the team in scoring this season. After Trinity fell behind early against HSU, Doran provided the equalizer in the 62nd minute, then assisted on the game-winning score just over three minutes later. Against McMurry, she began the play that eventually led to the first goal of the day, then scored the eventual game-winner less than a minute into the second half. Doran then put the Tigers up 4-0 with her second goal of the game in the 64th minute of play.

Preview - Back at the Paul

The Tigers will be back at the Paul this coming weekend, opening play on Sunday, September 21, at 7:00 PM against Concordia University before they face off against Texas Lutheran University on Tuesday, September 23, at 7:00 PM.

On the Concordia Tornados: The Tigers and Tornados have met four times in their history. The first clash came in 2011, when the Tigers claimed an 8-0 victory, followed by a 5-0 win in 2017. Their 2023 matchup ended in a 2-2 draw, the first tie between the two teams. Most recently, in 2024, the Tigers edged out a hard-fought 1-0 win. With the Tornados still searching for their first victory in the series and the Tigers aiming to extend their dominance, this matchup promises plenty of intensity.

On the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs: The Bulldogs are a much more common matchup for the Tigers. Throughout both programs' history, the two teams have met a total of 37 times, with the Tigers winning 36 of those matches, and tying 1, remaining undefeated against the Bulldogs. The teams met up 3 times this past season, with the Tigers first tying them in September, then later beating them 2-0 in November. Their final matchup was in the SCAC tournament final, where the Tigers scored in overtime to win the game and get an invitation into the National NCAA Tournament. With the Bulldogs out for blood after the Tigers ended their season last year, this matchup is sure to be a physical, high-stakes battle.

Looking Ahead

The Tigers will hit the road next weekend for a single matchup against University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday, September 27th, at 5 PM. The game marks their final non-conference test before kicking off play in their new conference, the SAA.
