HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FLORIDA. – Trinity men's golf team teed off Sunday at the NCAA Division III Fall Preview on the Las Colinas course at Mission Inn Resort, closing the first round at +18 (302) to sit in 18th heading into day two.
The Tigers were led by
Andre Follmer (Austin, Texas / Lake Travis), who turned in an even-par 71. Follmer played steady golf throughout, carding three birdies, and posted one of the strongest individual rounds of the day. He sits in a tie for 22nd on the leaderboard.
Close behind was
Sam Rossi (Los Angeles, Calif. / Loyola), who posted a one-over 72. Rossi's round was highlighted by four birdies, to help him maintain momentum. He stands tied for 26th after day one.
The rest of the Tiger lineup battled through a challenging day.
Brody Grieb (Bend, Ore. / Summit) came in at 79 (+8), followed by
Carter Code (Calgary, Alberta, Canada / Manning) with an 80 (+9), and
Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) rounded out the group at 81 (+10).
Looking Ahead
Trinity will look to climb the leaderboard in Monday's second round as they continue competition at Mission Inn. Strong play from the upperclassmen and steadier scoring in the middle of the lineup will be key for the Tigers to move up in a crowded field of top Division III programs.
