San Antonio, TEXAS — The men's and women's cross country teams head to Hill College, just north of Waco, this Friday for the Hill Cross Country Classic. For the first time this season, the travel and non-travel squads will split up, as the top 10 on each team wait to run at the Louisville Classic on Oct. 4. This will be the first real test of depth for two teams that boast strong runners outside of the top core.
 
The women will race first, with their 5k beginning at 6:30 p.m. Of those racing, Allison Fortman (McKinney, Texas / Boyd / Rice University) was the top finisher at the UIW Invitational, posting a time of 20:05 for 56th. 
 
The men will race second, with their 8k kicking off at 7:00 p.m. Garrett Machado (Seguin, Texas / Seguin) will look to lead the charge for the Tigers, as he finished the 4-mile UIW Invitational in 21:18 for 63rd.
 
Trinity looks to flaunt their depth and their young talent with a slew of freshmen rounding out both teams. For the non-travel squads, their next test will be a preview of the 2025 SAA Conference Championship course on Oct. 18 at Southwestern University. Despite the new conference, this will be a familiar course for the Tigers, as it is the site of the 2022 SCAC Conference Championship.
 
Next up for the travel squad will be a trip to Kentucky for the Louisville Classic on Oct. 4. This will mark the first travel trip of the season as the top Tiger runners begin the trek towards championship season.
