Tiger Cross Country Teams Enjoy Continued Success at Hill Classic

HILLSBORO, Texas – The Trinity men's and women's cross country teams continued to build on their success during the 2025 season, including today's Hill Cross Country Classic, hosted by Hill College (TX) on Friday night.

The Tiger women finished second and the men were fifth among mostly non-Division III competition, even though the top runners on the teams did not compete on Friday. Trinity's women scored 71 points to finish behind Dallas Baptist University (TX) in the 5K race, but well in front of the rest of the field – leading third-place Blinn College (TX) by more than 40 points. Dallas Baptist also won the men's 8K race and Trinity's 131 points were just two points shy of fourth and 15 behind a spot in third.

Senior Luke Whitfill (Overland Park, Kan. / The Barstow School) was next among Tiger runners in 35th place after crossing the line at 27:51.1 on Friday night. First-years Henry Stevens (The Woodlands, Texas / Providence Classical School) and Nico Murphy (Cedar Park, Texas / Vista Ridge) were next in 39th and 41st, finishing in 28:02.4 and 28:07.8, respectively.

Two more first-years were among the next three finishers for the women, and each finished in the top 35 individually. First-year Scarlett Berthelot (Tomball, Texas / Tomball) was 30th in a time of 21:19.3, followed by senior Alexandria Alcott (San Antonio, Texas / Great Hearts Northern Oaks) in 21:29.4 for 32nd place, and first-year Eva Scheer (Arcadia, Okla. / Casady School) in 21:34.2 for 34th overall.
