AVCA Poll

After opening weekend, the Tigers maintain a top-15 spot at #12. Juniata continues to hold the #1 spot, followed by Wisconsin- Whitewater, Hope, Johns Hopkins, and West Region rival Emory rounding out the top five. SAA Conference opponent Berry enters the rankings at #24.

Preview- Weekend in Newport News, Virginia

The Tigers will kick off the weekend against Wiliam Paterson on Friday September 5th at 12:30 PM. Friday night, they will face the host team, #21 Christopher Newport at 7:00 PM. Tiger Volleyball will close out the tournament versus Bridgewater on Saturday September 6th at 11:00 AM.

No. 21 Christopher Newport (2-1)

The Captains enter the weekend ranked 21st nationally after a solid start. They were Coast-to-Coast Conference Champions in the 2024 season and made it to the Regional Finals. Last weekend, they posted wins over Catholic University of America and the United States Coast Guard Academy, but fell to No. 2 Wisconsin-Whitewater in straight sets. Trinity and Christopher Newport are tied 2-2 in their all-time series.

William Paterson (2-2)

The Pioneers opened their season with four matches, earning wins over Washington College (MD) and Trine University. Their two losses came against the University of Lynchburg and Smith College. Sophomore Libero Bella Demers earned NJAC Defensive Player of the week honors after her strong opening weekend performance. In 2024, William Paterson won the NJAC Conference, but lost in the first round of the playoffs to Christopher Newport. Trinity has never faced William Paterson.

Bridgewater (VA) (2-2)

Bridgewater split its opening weekend with wins over Dickinson and Neumann, while dropping matches to Messiah and #25 Otterbein. Trinity has not faced Bridgewater in recent seasons. The last time Trinity faced Bridgewater was in 2009, when the Tigers pulled off a win in a five-set thriller.

Looking Ahead
The Tigers will return to Calgaard Gym for their final non-conference matches against Northwestern- St. Paul, Whitworth, and East Texas Baptist.
