SAN ANTONIO – The 11th-ranked Trinity University Women's Tennis Team continued its strong start to the 2026 season with a dominant 7-0 victory over UC Santa Cruz on Saturday afternoon at the
Butch Newman Tennis Center.
The Tigers quickly seized momentum in doubles play, claiming the opening point with wins at the #2 and #3 positions.
Katie Schmidt (Prairie Village, Kansas / Shawnee Mission East) and
Lauren Tin (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) were first off the court, delivering a decisive 6-1 victory at #2 doubles. Shortly after,
Astrid Kerrman (Edina, Minnesota / Edina) and
Allison Vo (Houston, Texas / Memorial) secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win at the #3 spot. The top pairing of
Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Ponderosa) and
Trinity Levy (Camarillo, California / Weil Tennis Academy) held a 5-3 lead at #1 doubles when the point was clinched and the match went unfinished, giving Trinity a 1-0 advantage heading into singles.
Trinity carried that energy into singles competition, where the depth of the lineup proved overwhelming. The first singles match to finish came at #5, as the freshman Kerrman turned in a commanding 6-0, 6-1 performance to double the Tigers' lead. Schmidt followed at #6 with a strong 6-0, 6-4 win, putting Trinity firmly in control. Tin added another point at #3 singles with a clean 6-2, 6-2 victory, and 28th-ranked Andrade delivered a steady 6-2, 6-2 win at #2 to push the margin further. Levy continued the surge at #4 singles, earning a 6-4, 6-3 result to keep the sweep intact. At the top of the lineup, 48th-ranked
Eva Kovachev (Arlington, Texas / The Oakridge School) capped the afternoon with a composed 6-3, 6-4 win at #1 singles, completing the 7-0 sweep.
With the victory, Trinity improves to 2-0 on the young season, showcasing balance and control across both doubles and singles play while protecting their home court in its spring opener.
