SAN ANTONIO, Texas — No. 16 Trinity Baseball takes the first two games from Millsaps to open conference weekend.
Game One - Trinity 23, Millsaps 12
Trinity wasted no time erasing the early deficit in the first. John Ramsey (Austin, Texas / Westwood) tied the game with a solo home run to deep left, then Will Baker (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) reached on a walk and Grant Anderson (Austin, Texas / Vista Ridge) moved into scoring position after reaching on an error. Sawyer Haynes (Waco, Texas / Midway) followed with a two-run single to right center to put Trinity in front, and the Tigers kept the pressure on from there. Nicholas Jones (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) drove in another run with a double to center, Mattias Rytting (Houston, Texas / Bellaire) added a two-run single to center, and Kaleb Woodward (San Pedro, California / Palos Verdes Paninsula) later singled to keep the inning alive as Trinity surged in front 6-1 after one.
The Tigers kept rolling in the second. Anderson reached and Haynes sparked the rally again with a single that pushed another runner to third. Callen Singhania (Dallas, Texas / Jesuit College Prep) brought in a run with a single up the middle, Jones ripped an RBI double to left center, and Rytting followed with an RBI single through the left side. Khalfani Coney (Los Angeles, California / Crossroads School) chipped in with an infield RBI single, Woodward added another run-scoring single to center, and a wild pitch brought home one more run as Trinity stretched its lead to 12-1. Millsaps answered with four runs in the top of the third, but Trinity got one back in the bottom half to keep control.
In the third inning, the Tigers continued to capitalize. Trinity pushed across its lone run of the frame to answer the Majors' rally and maintain breathing room. Millsaps again put together a scoring inning in the fifth, but Trinity delivered another crooked number in the bottom half. The Tigers broke the game open with six more runs, continuing the same relentless pattern of runners reaching base and timely hits throughout the lineup.
Trinity added the finishing touches in the sixth with four more runs. After the Tigers kept traffic on the bases, the offense once again cashed in and turned a high-scoring night into a runaway. Millsaps scored three times in the top of the seventh, but Trinity's offensive outburst had already built too large a cushion to overcome.
