No. 14 Tiger Men's Tennis Defeated By No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

Claremont, CA - The 14th-ranked Trinity University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to the top-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags on Friday morning at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

Doubles play began with the Stags taking the early momentum at #1, as the 23rd-ranked pairing of Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) and Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) fell 6-2 to Mareedu and Settles. Trinity responded in the second match to finish, with Aashish Dhanani (Austin, Texas / Westwood) and Conor Kaczmarczyk (Aurora, Colo. / Regis Jesuit) earning a strong 6-2 victory at the #3 position over Pham and Vu. The doubles point was decided at #2, where the 8th-ranked duo of Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) were defeated 6-3, to give CMS a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

Singles play opened with CMS extending its lead, as the first result came at #4 where the 30th-ranked Ryan Warren (Keller, Texas / Connection Academy) was defeated 6-1, 6-4. Shortly after, Dhanani fell at #3 by a 6-3, 6-2 margin, pushing the score to 3-0.

The clinching point came at the top of the lineup, where 16th-ranked Kersten battled 2nd-ranked Mareedu but came up short in a tight 7-5, 6-4 contest at #1, as CMS secured the match.

With the team result decided, play continued as Kaczmarczyk fell at #5 by a 7-5, 6-2 score, followed by a 7-5, 6-2 loss from Kamath at #6.

Trinity closed the match on a high note in the final contest of the day, as 20th-ranked Jared Perry earned an impressive ranked win at #2, defeating 19th-ranked Pham 7-5, 7-6 (5) to account for the Tigers' lone point and bring the final score to 6-1.

Despite the result, Trinity showed resilience throughout the match, highlighted by a doubles victory and a strong-ranked singles win against the nation's top-ranked team.
