DICKINSON, Tenn. – The 15th-ranked Trinity University men's golf team shot a three-round team total of 864 and finished third at the GreyStone Invitational, held at the GreyStone Golf Course.
The Tigers were just one shot back of #17 Willamette College (OR) in second place, with the eighth-ranked University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX) winning the two-day event. #14 Southwestern University (TX) finished fourth – eight strokes back of Trinity.
Jeffrey Forster (Santa Barbara, Calif. / San Marcos) led the Tiger men with a three-round score of one-under 215 (70-75-70 to finish fifth individually. Forster shot two rounds under par for the tournament, including a final-round 70 that included five birdies on Tuesday. He opened the event with a 70 that included 14 pars and three birdies among his first 18 holes.
Aiden Marlow (San Antonio, Texas / Churchill) and
Sam Rossi (Los Angeles, Calif. / Loyola) were tied for seventh individually after both Tigers finished with scores of one-over 217. Marlow had three birdies in each of the first two rounds, beginning with a 70 to tie for the team lead after 18 holes. He also had two birdies and the team's only eagle in today's final round. Rossi had a bogey-free opening round with 16 pars and a pair of birdies. He then finished the first day with four more birdies to shoot plus-one 73 in round two.
Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) was tied with Forster with 11 total birdies for the tournament – nine of which came in the first two rounds. He led the team with a two-under 70 in round two, chalking up five birdies after carding four in the first 18 holes. Sandhu tied for 11th with a score of 219 (74-70-75).
Carter Code (Calgary, Canada / Manning) led the team with 12 total birdies and finished 21st with a score of 225 (78-71-76).
Brody Grieb (Bend, Ore. / Summit) was tied for 22nd with a score of 228 (75-77-76) that included nine total birdies.
