Whitney, Texas – The No. 15 Trinity Men's Golf team finished second at the White Bluff Resort Classic, held at White Bluff Resort - Old Course in Whitney, Texas, with Mary Hardin-Baylor claiming the tournament title at +12. Hardin-Simmons placed third at +52, with Dallas and Southwestern just behind them at +55. Southwestern (B) and Centenary rounded out the final two teams.
The Tigers posted a +8 in the final round to finish at +20 overall, with a field scoring average of 77.21 in round three underlining the continued challenge the course presented throughout the week.
The Rundown
Sam Rossi (Los Angeles, Calif. / Loyola) delivered the standout round of the day for Trinity, carding a one-under-par 71 (-1) to finish 11th overall at +8. Rossi's front nine was exceptional, he went out in 33 (-3), highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 third hole, before adding birdies on holes six and eight to turn in one of the finest front nines in the field. He finished the tournament ranked tied third in Par 3 scoring and tied fourth in total pars with 33, underlining the consistency that ran through his game all week.
Andre Follmer (Austin, Texas / Lake Travis) carded an exceptional one-over-par 73 (+1) in the final round to finish T7 overall at +6, competing as an individual. Follmer was at his most clinical on the par-4s, picking up birdies on holes one and fourteen alongside a birdie on the par-5 sixth, and his nine birdies across the tournament rank tenth in the entire field, a fine return across three rounds and a solid overall performance.
Jeffrey Forster (Santa Barbara, Calif. / San Marcos) shot a two-over-par 74 (+2) in the final round to finish T7 overall at +6. Forster's ten birdies across the tournament rank tied eighth in the field, and his Par 5 scoring ranked tied fifth overall, a consistent attacking presence aided by his length of the tee made him one of Trinity's most dependable contributors across all 3 rounds.
Aiden Marlow (San Antonio, Texas / Churchill) recorded a three-over-par 75 (+3) in the final round to finish 10th overall at +7. Marlow found five birdies on the day, the most of the team, and his eleven birdies across the tournament rank tied sixth in the field, the product of an aggressive approach that served the Tigers well throughout the week. He also impressively ranked tied fifth in par 4 scoring average with a 4.17 average, despite the tricky nature of the par 4's on the course.
Carter Code (Calgary, Alberta, Canada / Manning) posted a four-over-par 76 (+4) in the final round to finish T7 overall at +6. Code's front nine of 35 (-1) showed his quality, picking up birdies on holes two and seven before a tough back nine of 41. His twelve birdies across the tournament rank tied third in the field, and he finished second in Par 4 scoring overall, a testament to his supreme ball-striking throughout the week.
Ethan Sullivan (Norfolk, Mass. / King Philip) carded a four-over-par 76 (+4) in the final round to finish T5 overall at +4, competing as an individual. Sullivan picked up birdies on the par-5 sixth and par-5 eighteenth, and his 34 pars across the tournament rank third in the entire field, a show of the composure and consistency he brought across all three rounds.
Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) carded a seven-over-par 79 (+7) in the final round to finish T22 overall at +15. Sandhu found two birdies on the front nine on holes three and six, but a difficult back nine of 43 made for a tough finish to the week after his impressive opening round.
