#15 Men's Golf Vaults to Second After Day Two of SAA Championships

DICKSON, Tenn. – The No. 15 Trinity Men's Golf team climbed into second place after a nine-under-par round two at the SAA Conference Championship, held at Greystone Golf Club.
 
Trinity's -9 in round two moved them to -7 overall, twelve shots behind tournament leaders Sewanee at -19. The field scoring average of 74.27 in round two reflected another demanding day on the course. Trinity ranks second in total birdies across the tournament with 44, and leads the entire field in Par 4 scoring with an average of 3.98, the best mark in the field.
 
The Rundown
Sam Rossi
(Los Angeles, Calif. / Loyola) delivered the round of the day for Trinity, carding a four-under-par 68 (-4) to sit T4 overall at -4. Rossi closed with a back nine of 33 to post one of the best scores in the field and has been the standout performer across both rounds, he leads the entire field in Par 4 scoring with an average of 3.75, the best mark among all players. Carter Code (Calgary, Alberta, Canada / Manning) matched Rossi stroke for stroke, also carding a four-under-par 68 (-4) to sit T7 overall at -3. Code's front nine of 35 set the platform for a closing 33 that was one of the finest halves of golf in the field on the day, and his 11 birdies across the tournament rank second among all players.
 
Jeffrey Forster (Santa Barbara, Calif. / San Marcos) carded a two-under-par 70 (-2) to sit T9 overall at -1. Forster went out in 35 and came home in 35, posting one of the most consistent rounds of the day and keeping himself firmly in the mix heading into the final round. His Par 4 average of 3.85 across the tournament ranks fifth in the entire field. Aiden Marlow (San Antonio, Texas / Churchill) posted a one-over-par 73 (+1) to sit T20 overall at +3. Marlow went out in 35 before a back nine of 38 on a course that continued to punish any loose shots in the closing stretch, and his Par 4 average of 4.00 across the tournament ranks tied seventh in the field.
 
Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) carded a one-over-par 73 (+1) to sit T27 overall at +5. Sandhu came home in 36 and has been one of the most consistent players in the field across both rounds, with his 27 pars ranking tied first in the entire tournament. Ethan Sullivan (Norfolk, Mass. / King Philip) posted a four-over-par 76 (+4) to sit T23 overall at +4. Sullivan went out in 39 before a back nine of 37, and his Par 5 average of 4.50 across the tournament ranks tied third in the field.
