San Antonio, TX - The 8th-ranked Trinity University women's tennis team rolled to a dominant 7-0 sweep of Hardin-Simmons University at the
Butch Newman Tennis Center on Friday morning, winning every court without dropping a single set.
Trinity wasted no time in doubles, with Â
Katie Schmidt (Prairie Village, Kansas / Shawnee Mission East) and
Lauren Tin (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) striking first at the #2 position, blanking their opponents 6-0.
Eva Kovachev (Arlington, Texas / The Oakridge School) and
Allison Vo (Houston, Texas / Memorial) followed shortly after at #3, cruising to a 6-1 victory to build early momentum and clinch the doubles point. The 8th-ranked pairing of
Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Ponderosa) and
Trinity Levy (Camarillo, California / Weil Tennis Academy) then closed out doubles at #1, completing the clean sweep with a 6-3 win.
Carrying that energy into singles, Tin was first off the court at #3, delivering a dominant 6-0, 6-1 performance to put Trinity up 2-0. The 28th-ranked Andrade then matched that intensity at #2, dismissing her opponent 6-0, 6-1 to make it 3-0.
At the top of the lineup, 48th-ranked Kovachev then clinched the match for Trinity with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 win at #1, pushing the score to 4-0.
Play continued with Levy adding another point at #4, winning 6-1, 6-0 to stay undefeated for the season with 12 wins. Schmidt contributed at #5 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. While the freshman
Astrid Kerrman (Edina, Minnesota / Edina) capped the sweep at #6, closing out the shutout with a 6-4, 6-0 win.
With the victory, Trinity improves to 12-1 on the season as the Tigers did not drop a single set across all nine courts on the day.
