GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Trinity University men's and women's swimming & diving teams had eight individuals selected for the Academic All-District® Team for the 2025-26 season, as announced by the College Sports Communicators.
Tiger men's honorees include sophomore
Luke Fender (Jackson, Miss. / St. Andrew's Episcopal), junior
Chase Hays (Austin, Texas / Anderson), junior
Ryan O'Leary (Austin, Texas / Austin), and senior
William Walker (Houston, Texas / Westside). Trinity women's winners include junior
Amy Benson (Newmarket, N.H. / Phillips Exeter Academy), senior
Neely Burns (Phoenix, Ariz. / Thunderbird), junior
Julia Carter (Dripping Springs, Texas / Dripping Springs), and sophomore
Emme Penry (Greenwood Village, Colo. / Regis Jesuit).
This is the first Academic All-District® award for Fender, Hays, and Penry. Fender was also a College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American last year and has earned All-American honors each of his first two seasons. Benson, Carter, and O'Leary have all been recognized for the second straight year. Benson was also a Third Team Academic All-American® last year and is a two-time CSCAA Scholar All-American. Carter also earned Scholar All-American honors and both Carter and Benson have won multiple All-American awards. Burns has been selected an Academic All-District® award-winner each of the last three years and has earned two Scholar All-American awards. She also won the NCAA Championship in the 400 IM in 2024 and has earned All-American honors each of her four years at Trinity.
The Academic All-District® program honors student-athletes who meet rigorous academic and athletic standards. To be eligible, nominees must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50, and either compete in at least five competitions during the season or finish among the top eight at a conference championship meet.
