SAN ANTONIO, TX - Trinity Tigers Women's soccer opens the 2026 season.
Last Season
The Trinity Tigers closed out the 2025 season with a 14-2-4 overall record and going undefeated in SAA play. Combining an attack that scored 52 goals with a defense that allowed just 11, the Tigers captured both the SAA regular season and conference tournament championships. Ranked as high as No. 10 nationally, they hosted the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament but ultimately fell in the second round, losing 2-1 in overtime to California Lutheran University. However, the season still showcased several standout performers. Forward
Alex Doran (Boerne, Texas / Geneva School of Boerne), the team's leading scorer and SAA Offensive Athlete of the Year, earned Second Team United Soccer Coaches All -Region honors after posting 12 goals, 29 points, and six game-winners, while defender
Kylie Harris (Missouri City, Texas/Ridge Point) picked up Third Team All-Region recognition. Anchoring the backline was defender
Ilsa Newland (St. Louis, Mo./ Kirkwood), who was honored as a United Soccer Coaches Second Team All- American, First Team All-Region selection, and SAA Defensive Player of the Year. Midfielder
Bri Werner (Woodbine, Md./ Glenelg) earned First Team All-Region honors, and forward
Hanna Khan (Southlake, Texas/ Carroll) rounded out the group with a Second Team All-Region Selection.
This Season
The Tigers open their 2026 season on the road at Texas A&M-San Antonio on September 1st, then return to Paul McGinlay Field to host the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on September 6th and Texas A&M-Victoria on September 7th.
Trinity will return some key pieces from last season's SAA title winning campaign. Offensively, Doran and
Madisyn Barganski (Corpus Christi, Texas / Flour Bluff) return to lead the attack.
Malea Ceasar (Portland, Ore. / Sunset) brings experience to the midfield while defensively, Harris and
Kayla Boven (Katy, Texas / Tompkins) return to hold down the backline.
SAA Poll
After taking both SAA tournament and regular season titles and a run to the round of 32 in the NCAA tournament, voters in the SAA preseason poll have Trinity to repeat as conference champions, putting the Tigers No. 1 ahead of Sewanee at No. 2 and Rhodes College at No. 3.
Preview - Opening Weekend
Trinity opens on the road against Texas A&M-San Antonio on Tuesday, September 1st at 7:00 PM. The Tigers then return home for the weekend, hosting the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 6:00 PM on Sunday September 6th and Texas A&M-Victoria at 4:00 PM on Monday, September 7th.
On the Texas A&M-San Antonio Jaguars: The 2025 Texas A&M-San Antonio women's soccer team went 5-10-2 overall and 4-6-1 in RRAC play. Several key contributors return to the pitch for the Jaguars in 2026 including Jasmin Dominguez, Lillian Spears, and Samara Lopez. Historically, Trinity holds a 1-0 record against the Jaguars.
On the Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders: UMHB went 8-6-6 overall in the 2025 season and held an impressive 5-1 record in the ASC. The Crusaders made a deep conference tournament run before falling 1-0 to Hardin-Simmons in the ASC Championship. A notable victory includes a 4-1 win over SAA opponent Southwestern. UMHB brings back some key returners including Gracie Ruthven, Audrey Arlien and Ella Ruff for the 2026 season. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw in the 2025 season, and Trinity leads the all-time series 8-1-1.
On the Texas A&M-Victoria Jaguars: The Texas A&M-Victoria Jaguars finished the 2025 season at 8-5-5 overall and 5-3-3 in RRAC play. Their 2025 campaign included a 1-0 upset of SCAC champion McMurry and a run in the conference tournament before falling in the RRAC Quarterfinals to Our Lady of the Lake. The Jaguars look to build on that run this fall behind a roster of many talented returners including Ayloni Garcia, Kaitlyn McCarty and Cheyenne Grant. This is the first time in history the Tigers and Jaguars will meet for a season recorded match.
Looking Ahead
Trinity will hit the road to face Concordia University on September 11th before returning home to host the University of Dallas on September 13th.
