Dickson, Tennessee – Trinity University's Women's Golf Team sits in second after the opening round at Greystone Golf Club.
With a field scoring average of 80.57, the Tigers carded a +18 in round one, just four strokes behind Sewanee (+14). Huntingdon sits in third with a +22, and Centre follows close behind in fourth with a +24.
Individually,
Jennie Dong (Fulshear, Texas / Jordan) and
Natalie Lewis (El Paso, Texas / Coronado) led the Tigers with three-over par rounds of 75. Dong stayed consistent in her college debut round, carding two birdies for the day. Lewis stayed steady throughout the day, finishing the round with a +1 through the front nine and +2 through the back. They sit tied for fourth going into tomorrow's round.
Naaz Mehta (Newtown, Pa. / Council Rock North) follows close behind, sitting in T8 with a +5 for the round. With three Tigers in the top ten, Trinity looks to take the lead tomorrow.
Erice Lee (Prosper, Texas / Prosper) carded a seven-over, 79, a strong start to her college career. Lee carded three birdies for the round, putting her T4 for most birdies in the individual tournament field.
Sabrina Nader (Houston, Texas / The Kinkaid School) is eight-over going into round two, putting her in T22. With 13 pars throughout her round, Nader sits T1 for most pars in the individual tournament field.
Lauren Huddleston (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek) finished round one with a ten-over 82, to sit in T25. Huddleston produced a solid front nine of 39 and stayed especially strong on her par 5s, finishing +1 in par 5s for the day.
