SAN ANTONIO, TX - The No. 2 Trinity Men's Soccer team (1-2-2) and the Texas A&M-San Antonio Jaguars (2-1-1) played out a wild 3-3 draw on Sunday evening at Paul McGinlay Field, with the two sides trading the lead down the stretch before a stoppage-time penalty rescued a point for the Tigers.

Trinity struck first in the 29th minute when Eduardo Parra (Oklahoma City, OK / Casady School) nicked the ball away from the Jaguars defence, drove at the onrushing goalkeeper, and coolly finished into the top left corner to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. The goal capped a first half in which Trinity was out-shot 8-3 but made its lone real chance count, and the Tigers carried that advantage into the break despite the Jaguars' edge in shot volume. 

The second half turned into a wild affair. Ten minutes into the half, TAMU-San Antonio scored twice in quick succession to seize control, with Rodriguez converting a well-worked goal before Guerreo buried a ball from Rodriguez just over a minute later to make it 2-1. Trinity answered right back in the 59th minute in spectacular fashion. Julian Lopez (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal) cut in from the right and curled a beautiful inswinging cross onto the head of Gabriel Romanenko (Los Angeles, California / Geffen Academy), who powered it home into the bottom left corner to level the score at 2-2. The Jaguars regained the lead in the 76th minute on a goal from Hadj-Hamou, assisted by Rodriguez, putting TAMU-San Antonio up 3-2 and seemingly in control with the clock winding down.

But Trinity weren't down and out. In the 86th minute, Daniel Urquidi (Round Rock, Texas / Round Rock) made a clever run in behind the Jaguars' defense before being taken down in the box. Luke Mayfield (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce), on his first start back from injury, stepped up to calmly convert the resulting penalty to level the match at 3-3. The score held from there as the final whistle sounded on a share of the points.

TAMU-San Antonio held the edge in total shots, 14-10, while Trinity finished with the advantage in shots on goal, 8-6, and corner kicks, 4-1. LeMaster made five saves in net for the Jaguars, while Brandon Gongora (San Antonio, Texas / Madison) turned aside three shots on his first start of the season for the Tigers.
