Former Tiger standout Kelly Simmons will continue in her second season as the Trinity Women's Basketball Assistant Coach when the 2023-24 season gets underway.

Simmons joined the staff after four seasons on the team during which she played in all 98 games for the Tigers during her career. She capped off her career with 230 rebounds in her final season, which is tied for the 13th-most in school history. Simmons also finished 12th in career rebounds and ninth in career blocks at Trinity. She was a three-time Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll member and was named to the Dean's List on two occasions. She also earned Honorable Mention All-SCAC and was selected to the SCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

During her time on the court with the Tigers, Trinity held an 83-15 overall record that included a 54-5 mark in conference play. Simmons led the team to two SCAC Championships and two appearances in the NCAA Playoffs, which included a historic senior year in 2021-22. Last season, Simmons and the Tigers reached the NCAA Quarterfinals for just the second time in school history. Trinity also matched the program record with 28 victories, setting a new school record with 27 consecutive wins. The team also broke the school record with 122 points in a win over Schreiner during the regular season.
