San Antonio - The Trinity Tigers baseball team
won its three-game non-conference home series with the Brandeis
Judges Saturday, with a 17-7 victory at E.M. Stevens
Field.
Trinity (8-2) won the opener 15-7 last Tuesday, and Brandeis won
Friday's 10-inning game 7-6.
Brandeis (1-2) opened the scoring with two runs in the top of
the first inning. Trinity countered with three runs in the bottom
of the inning, highlighted by an RBI triple by Evan Jones. In the
third inning, Trinity scored six runs, keyed by the first of three
Tiger home runs in the game. Dylan Early cracked his second homer
of the season, a two-run shot. Kevin Jackson and Dom Robusto both
hit their first homers of the season. Jackson, from Bellevue, Wash.
(O'Dea), went 4-5 and nearly hit for the cycle, hitting a triple
and a pair of singles in addition to his home run.
Nick Pappas of Los Angeles (Loyola) batted 3-3, with three runs
scored. Kevin Calbick of Burnaby, British Columbia (Burnaby South
Secondary), also hit 3-3 with three RBI and a pair of runs.
Junior right-hander Mike Panozzo of Houston (Clear Lake),
claimed the win, improving to 3-0 on the year. He pitched six
innings, allowed four earned runs, eight hits, no walks, and fanned
seven batters.
Next up on the Tigers' schedule is a non-conference game
Tuesday, Feb. 23, with Texas Lutheran, at 2 p.m. in Seguin, Texas.
Trinity will host Texas Lutheran at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, the
Tigers' next home game.
