Jackson, Miss. – The Trinity Tigers
baseball team picked up a weekend series split with the Millsaps
Majors, by a 10-7 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory
Sunday afternoon at Twenty Field.
Trinity, which has won six of its last seven games, improved to
15-5 and 7-3 SCAC. Millsaps, a 12-2 winner over the Tigers
Saturday, now stands at 12-5 and 7-1 SCAC. The two teams will play
a three-game series April 17-18 at E.M. Stevens Field.
The Tigers scored a run in the top of the first inning, with an
RBI single by sophomore outfielder Nick Pappas. Trinity then
produced three runs in the third inning, powered by a two-RBI
double by first-year shortstop Kevin Clements. The Majors got on
the board with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, but
Trinity answered with a run in the fourth. The inning started by a
triple from junior third baseman Kevin Jackson, and junior
first baseman Kyle Felix followed with a SAC fly to right field,
his team-best 34th RBI of the campaign.
Millsaps tied the score at 5-5, with a run in each of the fourth
and fifth innings. Trinity took a 6-5 lead in the sixth, on a
squeeze play by first-year catcher Kelly Woodruff, scoring Felix.
The Tigers then stretched the lead to 10-5, scoring four times in
the seventh. Pappas and Woodruff each got two RBI in the inning.
Millsaps scored two runs in the seventh, on two hits and two Tiger
errors.
Woodruff, from Atlanta (Riverwood), had four RBI in the game.

College Prep), who had his 26-game hitting streak broken on
Saturday, went 2-5 with one RBI, and scored two runs.
Sophomore right-hander Ben Klimesh of Wilmette, Ill. (New
Trier), was the first of three Tiger pitchers. Klimesh allowed four
earned runs, five hits, six walks, and struck out four batters in
four innings of work. The third pitcher was first-year left-hander
Ryan Lucero of Aurora, Colo. (Grandview), who hurled the final 4
2/3 innings for the win. Lucero (3-0) did not yield an earned run
or walk, allowed five hits, and fanned three batters.

cracked 13 hits, committed four errors, and left 14 players on
base. Millsaps scored four earned runs, collected 11 hits, made
