Box Score Alpine, Texas - The Trinity Tigers shut out the Sul Ross Lobos 3-0 in a non-conference baseball game Saturday afternoon at Kokernot Field.
Trinity, which beat Sul Ross 16-10 in Friday's opening game of the series, improved to 7-1. The Tigers have now won six games in a row. Sul Ross dropped to 2-4 after the loss. The two teams wrap up their series at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Streaks have been the name of the game for the Tigers, particularly to senior catcher Kyle Felix (Woodside, Calif./Bellarmine College Prep). Felix smacked a two-run home run in the fourth inning, his fifth round-tripper in the last four games. He swatted two homers in Friday's victory.
Felix batted 1-2 with two RBI and scored a run on Saturday.
Junior outfielder Nick Pappas (Los Angeles/Loyola) hit a SAC fly in the eighth inning, as the Tigers added their final run. Pappas hit 2-3 with an RBI.
Senior right-hander Michael Panozzo (Houston/Clear Lake) went the distance and upped his record to 2-0. Panozzo allowed only three hits, seven walks, and struck out seven Sul Ross batters.
The Tigers' runs were all earned, and they chalked up seven hits. Neither team committed an error.
