Box Score San Antonio -- The 20th-ranked Trinity Tigers won their 11th consecutive game with a 7-4 come-from behind non-conference victory Tuesday night over the Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders at the Trinity Baseball Field.
Trinity (12-1) had beaten The Cru (3-7) 16-5 on Feb. 15 at Belton, Texas.
Down 4-2, the Tigers racked up four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the lead for good. Sophomore first baseman Jonathan Hall (Kenilworth, Ill./New Trier) got on base with a fielder's choice, scoring senior outfielder Kevin Jackson (Bellevue, Wash./O'Dea). Senior outfielder Kevin Calbick (Burnaby, British Columbia/Burnaby South) tied the game with an RBI single to center field, as first-year second baseman Nicholas Iacovella (Tampa, Fla./Jesuit) crossed the plate.
Senior catcher Kyle Felix gave the Tigers the lead, with a two-RBI double to left center. Senior pinch runner John Paillet (Los Angeles/Loyola) scored, as did Hall, for his second run of the game.
Felix (Woodside, Calif./Bellarmine College Prep) batted 1-4 with two RBI and a double. He is currently tied for fifth place in Trinity career RBI, and needs four more to move into fourth. In addition, Felix is four doubles away from setting a Tiger all-time record.
Each team produced one run in the first inning. Junior designated hitter Nick Pappas (Los Angeles/Loyola) hit a SAC fly, as Hall scored Trinity's first run. The Cru took the lead with three runs in the top of the seventh, before the Tigers answered with four.
Iacovella hit a SAC bunt RBI in the eighth inning, as first-year shortstop Christian Muscarello (Tuscon, Ariz./Catalina Foothills) scored the final run of the game.
Jackson hit 3-4 with an RBI, and scored one run. Calbick hit 2-4 with one RBI.
Sophomore right-hander Michael Bentz (Houston/Memorial) was the starting pitcher, and hurled for 6 1/3 innings. Bentz allowed two earned runs, five hits, one walk and struck out six batters.
Ben Klimesh (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier), a sophomore right-hander, threw the final 2 2/2 innings and picked up the win. Klimesh (5-0) did not yield a hit or run, while walking two players. He also fanned seven batters.
Trinity scored six earned runs, cracked seven hits, and made three errors. Mary Hardin-Baylor scored two earned runs, and had six hits and three errors.
The Tigers will host Dallas Christian in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. Friday.
