High-Scoring Trinity Earns Lopsided Win Over Cardinal Stritch

Box Score

San Antonio - The Tiger baseball team enjoyed an offensive outburst in a 23-3 win over Cardinal Stritch University on Tuesday night.

Trinity improved to 19-3 on the season and 14-2 at the Trinity Baseball Field.  The Tigers scored in all but one inning in the game, including a five-run sixth inning, and a seven-run eighth.

Kyle Felix was 3-4 with four runs and three RBI in the game, hitting two doubles to tie Trinity's career record.  Felix is now tied with Kenneth Sharp (2000-03) for the school record of 59.

Nick Pappas was 2-3 with four runs and five RBI, hitting a three-run homer - his fifth of the season - in the high-scoring eighth inning.  Pappas and Felix, the Nos. 3 and 4 hitters in the lineup, reached base five times each in the game.

Kevin Jackson and Kevin Calbick also had two hits each, with Jackson scoring three times and Calbick collecting two runs and one RBI.  Kevin Francke was 2-5 with three RBI, while Jonathan Hall also drove in a pair of runs.

Dylan Early crushed his first home run of the season - a solo shot in the second inning.  Early was 2-5 with two runs and three RBI.  Kevin Clements also scored a pair of runs, while Christian Muscarello drove in two.

Ryan Lucero improved to 5-1 on the season, giving up just two runs on seven hits through six innings of work, and striking out seven batters.

The game was actually close early on as Cardinal Stritch scored two runs in the third to make it a 3-2 Trinity lead, but the Tigers scored three in the bottom of the inning to pull ahead by four.  After a two-run fourth, Trinity then scored 15 times in the final three innings to put the game away.

Trinity will travel to Seguin, Texas for a game at Texas Lutheran University tomorrow afternoon.  The Tigers and Bulldogs will play twice this season, with TLU coming to San Antonio later in the month.
