Box Score San Antonio - The Tiger baseball team enjoyed
an offensive outburst in a 23-3 win over Cardinal Stritch
University on Tuesday night.
Trinity improved to 19-3 on the season and 14-2 at the Trinity
Baseball Field. The Tigers scored in all but one inning in
the game, including a five-run sixth inning, and a seven-run
eighth.
Kyle Felix was 3-4 with four runs and three RBI in the game,
hitting two doubles to tie Trinity's career record. Felix is
now tied with Kenneth Sharp (2000-03) for the school record of
59.
Nick Pappas was 2-3 with four runs and five RBI, hitting a
three-run homer - his fifth of the season - in the high-scoring
eighth inning. Pappas and Felix, the Nos. 3 and 4 hitters in
the lineup, reached base five times each in the game.
Kevin Jackson and Kevin Calbick also had two hits each, with
Jackson scoring three times and Calbick collecting two runs and one
RBI. Kevin Francke was 2-5 with three RBI, while Jonathan
Hall also drove in a pair of runs.
Dylan Early crushed his first home run of the season - a solo
shot in the second inning. Early was 2-5 with two runs and
three RBI. Kevin Clements also scored a pair of runs, while
Christian Muscarello drove in two.
Ryan Lucero improved to 5-1 on the season, giving up just two
runs on seven hits through six innings of work, and striking out
seven batters.
The game was actually close early on as Cardinal Stritch scored
two runs in the third to make it a 3-2 Trinity lead, but the Tigers
scored three in the bottom of the inning to pull ahead by
four. After a two-run fourth, Trinity then scored 15 times in
the final three innings to put the game away.
Trinity will travel to Seguin, Texas for a game at Texas
Lutheran University tomorrow afternoon. The Tigers and
Bulldogs will play twice this season, with TLU coming to San
Antonio later in the month.
