Box Score Conway, Arkansas - The Trinity Tiger baseball
team was unable to hold on to a four-run lead late in the game,
eventually losing 9-8 against Hendrix College on Sunday
afternoon.
Trinity (21-8, 9-5) led 7-3 after six innings, but the Warriors
rallied with a six-run seventh to take the lead, and the Tigers
could not recover.
The Tigers opened the game with a run in the first, then after
Hendrix tied it in the seventh, Trinity used a three-run fourth to
take control with a 4-1 lead. Though Trinity also scored in
the fourth and the fifth (two runs), Hendrix also scored a couple
of runs in the fourth and fifth to set up the game-changing
seventh.
Starting pitcher Ryan Lucero went 6.1 innings, giving up six
runs - five earned - on 12 hits, but left with the lead
intact. Reliever Josh Fink was charged with the loss, giving
up three runs on two hits, though just one of the runs was
earned.
Kevin Calbick was 2-4 with one RBI and two runs in the game,
while Christian Muscarello was also 2-4 with one run and one
RBI.
Will Donnan saw his first action of the 2011 season, going 1-3
with a run and two RBI for the Tigers. Kyle Felix also drove
in a pair of runs, and was 1-5 on the day.
Trinity returns home on Tuesday to take on Texas Lutheran
University at 7:00 p.m. Next weekend, the Tigers host
Southwestern in a three-game SCAC series.
