Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity Tiger baseball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 14-4 win over Texas Lutheran University on Tuesday night.
Trinity (22-8) scored 11 times in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to pull away for the win over Texas Lutheran (16-12).
The Bulldogs actually scored first with a run in the second, but the Tigers answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. After TLU tied the game in the third, Trinity again pulled back in front with another run in the bottom half.
In the sixth, Texas Lutheran scored a pair of runs to take a 4-3 lead, but the Trinity offense was up to the task once more with two runs of its own to move ahead for good. The Tigers added three more runs in the seventh, then put the game out of reach with a six-run eighth inning.
Chris Walden (2-0) earned the win in relief for the Tigers, giving up just one hit over 2.1 innings of work, and striking out two batters.
Trinity hammered out 17 hits in the game, led by a three-hit night from Nick Pappas. Pappas scored two runs and drove in two more for the Tigers, going 3-5 at the plate. He also recorded three of the team's six steals in the game.
Kevin Calbick and Kyle Felix finished with two hits and two RBI each. Calbick hit his third home run of the season, and scored a total of three runs. Both of the hits for Felix were doubles, giving him 20 this season. That total is tied for the second-most in school history.
Nicholas Iacovella and Kevin Jackson also had two hits each, and both Jackson and Jonathan Hall scored two runs in the game.
Trinity will remain at home this weekend, and will continue Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play against Southwestern University. The Tigers split two games in Georgetown, Texas, earlier this year. Saturday, the teams play in a doubleheader that will start at 2:00 p.m., followed by a single game on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
