Box Score Georgetown, Texas - Trinity's 13-game winning
streak was snapped with a 6-4 Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference loss at Southwestern University on Saturday
afternoon.
Trinity (14-2) lost its first SCAC contest of the season,
falling to 5-1 in conference play. The Tigers and Pirates
will conclude their weekend series with a single game tomorrow
afternoon.
Saturday's loss came desipte Trinity scoring three runs in the
top of the first inning, as Southwestern scored three runs in the
seventh and eighth to pull ahead for the win.
The Tigers had three hits in that first inning, but were held to
just one hit the rest of the game against Southwestern.
The Pirates answered Trinity's three-run first with two runs of
its own to keep the game close. Trinity scored a run in the
fourth to make it 4-2, but Southwestern scored in the sixth and
seventh to tie the game, then went ahead with its two-run
eighth.
Christian Muscarello was one of the four Tiger players with a
hit, and also led the team with two runs scored. Nicholas
Iacovella hit the only extra-base hit of the game for Trinity,
cracking a double in the ninth inning.
Following the conclusion of the SCAC weekend series at
Southwestern tomorrow, Trinity returns home on Wednesday and
Thursday against DeSales University.
