Box Score Georgetown, Texas - The Trinity Tigers rallied
from an early two-run deficit to beat the Southwestern Pirates 10-5
Sunday afternoon in a SCAC game at the Rockwell Family Baseball
Field.
Trinity, which had a 13-game winning snapped after a 6-4 loss to
Southwestern Saturday, improved to 15-2 and 6-1 SCAC. Southwestern
dropped to 5-8 and 3-4 SCAC. The two teams will meet again in a
three-game series April 2-3 at the Trinity Baseball Field.
The Pirates scored one run in each of the second and third innings,
to take a 2-0 lead. Trinity got going in the sixth inning with a
run, on an RBI single by first-year shortstop Christian
Muscarello.
Trinity's biggest inning was definitely the seventh, as the Tigers
put five runs on the board. The five-run, four-hit inning
culminated with an RBI double to left center field by senior third
baseman Dominick Robusto.
The Tigers were not finished, as they scored two runs in the
eighth, which began with a triple by senior outfielder John
Paillet. In the top of the ninth, Trinity scored two more runs, on
an RBI by senior outfielder Kevin Jackson, and sophomore first
baseman Jonathan Hall.
Southwestern scored three runs in the bottom half of the ninth, but
it wasn't enough to make up for the Tigers' lead.
Junior designated hitter Nick Pappas batted 3-3 with two RBI, and
Paillet hit 3-5, and scored two runs. Robusto went 2-3 with one
RBI, two doubles, one run scored.
Tiger junior right-hander Ben Klimesh was the winning pitcher, and
remained undefeated at 6-0. Klimesh, who hurled seven innings,
allowed two earned runs, five hits, five walks, and fanned seven
batters.
Trinity scored five earned runs off six Southwestern pitchers,
smacked 13 hits, and made one error. Southwestern's runs were all
earned, and the Pirates had eight hits and four errors.
The Tigers return for a five-game home stand, beginning Wednesday
against DeSales at 7 p.m.
