Box Score San Antonio - The 10th-ranked Trinity Tigers
opened a two-game Division III series with a 12-4 victory over the
DeSales Bulldogs Wednesday night at the Trinity Baseball Field.
Trinity (16-2) and DeSales (3-2) will next play a single game at 7
p.m. Thursday.
The Tigers scored all of their runs in the first six innings,
highlighted by three runs in each of the second and fifth stanzas,
collecting nine hits along the way.
Trinity's 13 total hits were spread among 10 players. Sophomore
first baseman Jonathan Hall batted 2-2, picked up two walks,
smashed a triple, and scored two runs. Senior outfielder Kevin
Jackson hit 2-3 with an RBI and two runs. Kevin Calbick, a senior
outfielder, went 2-4 with one RBI and one run.
Sophomore left-hander Ryan Lucero (4-1) was the pitcher of record,
and hurled for 5 2/3 innings. Lucero, who did not allow an earned
run, yielded only four hits, three walks, and fanned seven
batters.
The Bulldogs scattered five hits, and did not score an earned
run. DeSales committed three errors, and the Tigers made two.
