Tiger Win Streak Snapped by Schreiner on Tuesday

Box Score

Kerrville, Texas - Trinity's baseball team had its eight-game winning streak snapped in an 8-7 loss at Schreiner University on Tuesday afternoon.

Trinity (29-9) beat Schreiner 9-8 in the opening game of the season in San Antonio, but could not complete a comeback that would have been a season sweep.

Schreiner improves to 8-22 with the win, scoring seven runs in the first two innings of the game.  The Tigers got to within a run after scoring six runs in the third and fourth, but fell short in the end.  After its five-run fourth innning, Trinity managed just one run the rest of the way.

Kevin Calbick had three hits and scored two runs for the Tigers to lead Trinity's offense, while Christian Muscarello went 2-3 with two RBI and one run scored.  Kevin Jackson drove in a pair of runs as well, going 1-4 in the game.

Clayton Freimuth (1-1) took the loss for the Tigers, and was the first of four pitchers in the game.  Noah Solomon pitched the final 3.1 innings, giving up no runs on four hits, and striking out four batters.

Trinity wraps up its regular-season campaign Saturday and Sunday in Irving, Texas, at the University of Dallas. Both games will begin at 2:00 p.m.  The Tigers were scheduled to play Friday at Dallas Christian, but that game was canceled.
