Box Score 2 Jackson, Mississippi - The Tiger baseball team
clinched the West Division's top seed for the Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Tournament by sweeping a road doubleheader at
Millsaps College on Saturday.
Trinity improved to 28-8 overall and 14-5 in the SCAC. The
Tigers and Majors split two games in San Antonio earlier this
season, which also means that Trinity has clinched the regular
season series with Millsaps.
The Tigers won 12-6 in the opening game on Saturday afternoon,
followed by a 10-1 win in game two. The second game featured
three home runs by the Tigers, leading directly to eight of the
team's 10 runs.
The opening game was seven innings in length, and Trinity jumped
out to a 9-0 lead behind a strong pitching performance by Michael
Bentz.
Millsaps finally got on the board with a five-run inning late in
the game to make it 9-5, but Trinity's offense continued to score
runs to keep the Tigers comfortably out in front.
Kyle Felix hit two home runs in the opening game, going 4-4 with
four RBI for the Tigers. Dominick Robusto also went deep for
Trinity in game one. In the second game, Patrick Frasier and
Nick Pappas both had two-run homers, while Will Donnan hit a grand
slam for his first career round-tripper.
Trinity and Millsaps finish off the weekend series with a single
game tomorrow at noon.
