San Antonio - Trinity women's soccer
goalkeeper Katie Garrett has been named the Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Garrett enjoyed her best career game against Wheaton (IL)
College on Friday, recording a personal-best 21 saves in a 1-1 tie.
The saves total is the second-highest in Trinity history for
a single game, missing the record by just three.
On Sunday against Loras, Garrett added six more saves to reach
34 for the season so far. She holds a goals-against average
of 0.68 for the season, as well as an 8-1-2 record and two
shutouts.
With her 21 saves on Friday, Garrett tripled her previous
career-best mark of seven. She is also nearing her career
best for a single season. During the 2010 season, Garrett
totaled 53 saves. She is also one of just five Trinity
women's soccer players to record 100 or more saves in a career.
Trinity is in its ninth season under Head Coach Lance Key, and
will resume SCAC play this weekend against Austin College and
Centenary College. The Tigers have won each of the last three
SCAC Championships, which includes winning last season's SCAC
Tournament Final.
