San Antonio - Trinity's baseball team swept a doubleheader from Centenary College with a pair of walk-off home runs from Nick Pappas and Christian Muscarello, winning 6-4 and 10-8.

Trinity (7-0) is off to its best start since the 2004 season, which opened the year with a 10-0 record.

In game one, Trinity took a one-run lead into the seventh and final inning, but Centenary tied it 4-4 with a solo home with two outs.  After a leadoff walk in the bottom of the inning, Pappas drove the ball to left-center field for the game-winner.

The second game featured even more dramatics.  Trinity trailed 2-0 after the first three innings, then scored four runs in both the fourth and fifth to take an 8-2 lead.  Centenary added two runs in the eighth, then hammered out four runs in the ninth to tie the game.

The Tigers put the leadoff man aboard once again in the bottom of the inning, as well as moving him up to third with no outs on a steal and throwing error.  But Centenary escaped with no damage to send the game into extra innings. 

In the 10th, reliever Josh Fink struck out the side to reclaim the momentum, and Trinity got a one-out double from Kevin Francke, sending Muscarello to the plate.  He crushed his second homer of the day (one in each game) to left field, giving the Tigers another dramatic win.

Muscarello, Trinity's leadoff hitter, homered on the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the first inning of game one.  He was 4-4 with two runs and two RBI in the game, then was 0-4 until his game-winner in game two. 

Pappas was 2-3 with a run and three RBI in the first game, as well as collecting another hit and another run in the second. 

Francke was 2-3 with one run and one RBI in the opener, then went 2-4 in the Tuesday night finale.  Pat Hirschberg and Dominick Robusto had two hits and two runs each in the second game, while Hirschberg also had two RBI on a home run.

Kevin Clements also went deep for the Tigers in the second game, picking up a total of three RBI, and was 1-3 with a run scored in the first game. 

Ben Klimesh earned the win in the first game, moving to 3-0 on the season despite giving up the game-tying home run in the seventh inning. 

Zack Speer pitched very well in his first start, striking out six in seven-plus innings of work, allowing four runs on nine hits.  Fink (2-0) earned the win, giving up just one run on two hits in the final two innings, and striking out five batters.

Centenary's Tyler Clakley had four hits and two runs in the second game, while Kyle Morton was 3-5 with five RBI and two runs scored.  Morton homered in both games, and was 3-4 with three RBI in game one, collecting eight RBI on the day.

The two teams will finish off their three-game series with another game tomorrow afternoon.  The game was originally scheduled for noon, but was moved to 2:00 p.m.
