Box Score Irving, Texas - Trinity's baseball team
finished off a two-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
sweep with a 5-0 shutout win over the University of Dallas on
Sunday afternoon.
Trinity improved to 12-1 this season with the win, and remained
unbeaten in conference play with a 4-0 SCAC record.
The Tigers did all their scoring in the first two innings,
sparked by Pat Hirschberg's second home run of the weekend.
Hirschberg hit a three-run shot in the first to put Trinity out in
front for good.
Trinity added two more runs in the second inning with a pair of
RBI singles, and starting pitcher Ryan Lucero took care of the
rest.
Lucero improved to 4-0 on the season, throwing a two-hit shutout
to finish off the road weekend series. Lucero struck out a
career-high 12 batters in the game, issuing just one
walk.
It was the second consecutive shutout for Lucero, who also held
Hendrix scoreless last Sunday. He didn't allow a hit until
the fifth inning, and only allowed two runners to advance to third
base during the game.
Hirschberg was 2-5 with one run and three RBI to lead the Tiger
offense. Christian Muscarello and Dominick Robusto also had
two hits each for Trinity.
Trinity returns home next weekend, facing off against Chapman
University for a three-game series that begins on Friday night at
7:00 p.m. Chapman is ranked second nationally, while Trinity
ranks 22nd in Division III>
