Box Score San Antonio - The Tiger baseball team suffered
a 5-0 shutout loss against DeSales University on Thursday night,
snapping Trinity's three-game win streak.
Trinity (15-3) had won eight of its past nine games coming into
tonight, but could not get anything going offensively. The
Tigers had just two hits in the game, allowing six hits to the
DeSales hitters.
Nick Griffith and Jules Cronk were the only Tigers to collect
hits in the game, though Nick Pappas did reach base twice via
walks.
DeSales started the game with two runs on three hits in the
first inning, then scored on a wild pitch in the sixth to go ahead
3-0. The Bulldogs sealed the victory with a two-run ninth
inning.
Tiger starter Zach Speer (0-1) went five-plus innings, giving up
three runs on three hits, walking three batters, and striking out
two. Matthew Tindall struck out three in 2.2 innings of
relief, allowing no runs on two hits.
Trinity will resume Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play
with a two-game series against Southwestern on Saturday and
Sunday. Both games are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
