Men's Soccer Slated for NCAA Sectionals in Iowa

San Antonio – The seventh-ranked Trinity Tigers men's soccer team will compete Saturday and Sunday at the NCAA Division III Soccer Championship Sectional in Dubuque, Iowa.

Trinity (20-2-1) meets Wartburg (Iowa) (17-4-2), which received votes in the national poll, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Loras College. The opener of the Sectional will pit host Loras (17-1-3), ranked sixth, with Westminster (Mo.) (13-8-1) at 5 p.m. The winners advance to Sunday's quarterfinals, scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
The NCAA Final Four is slated for Dec. 6-7 at San Antonio's Toyota Field. Trinity will co-host the men's and women's event, for the fifth straight year, with San Antonio Sports.
 
Trinity hosted the NCAA first and second rounds last weekend, and had shutout victories in both instances. The Tigers defeated Cal Lutheran 2-0 in the opening round, and took out No. 21 Puget Sound 4-0 in the second.
 
Tiger Head Coach Paul McGinlay has led the team to its 12th straight NCAA postseason event, and the 17th of the past 18 years. Trinity won the coveted NCAA Championship in 2003. In addition, the Tigers have been national runners-up, made three Final Four appearances,  and have advanced to the quarterfinals on seven occasions.
 
An automatic bid to this year's NCAA tournament was secured as the Tigers won their 16th Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.
 
Last season, Trinity advanced to the NCAA third round.
