San Antonio - Owen Collie has been named
the National Soccer Coaches Association of America West Regional
Assistant Coach of the Year.
Coach Collie is in his third season with the Tiger women's
soccer team, having led the team to three Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Championships and three appearances in the NCAA
Division III Playoffs during his tenure.
On Friday, December 6, Trinity will compete in the NCAA
Semifinals for the first time since the 2002 season, and for the
just the third time in school history. The Tigers hold a
24-0-2 record and a No. 2 national ranking this season.
The 24 victories this season are a new school record, breaking
the previous record of 22 wins set during Coach Collie's first
season in 2011.
Coach Collie began his coaching career with his alma mater, the
University of Incarnate Word, from 2007-09. A native of
Aberdeen, Scotland, he earned his bachelor's degree in sports
management in 2006, as well as his master's degree in kinesiology
in 2009.
Trinity will take on Middlebury (VT) College at 1:30 p.m. on
Friday afternoon. The winner will play in the NCAA Division
III Championship at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
