Box Score Kerrville, Texas - The Tiger baseball team
opened up its week with a 9-1 road victory at Schreiner University
on Tuesday afternoon.
Trinity (9-2) was led by junior outfielder Pat Hirschberg, who
hit two home runs for the second straight game, and finished with
six RBI. Hirschberg was 3-4 with three runs scored as well,
and has three hits in each of his last three games. He was
named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the
Week yesterday, then was selected to the D3Baseball.com Team of the
Week earlier today.
Schreiner actually took the early lead with a run in the bottom
of the first off of Tiger starter Zach Speer, but it would prove to
be the only run allowed by the Trinity pitching staff. Speer
(1-0) pitched five strong innings to earn the win, giving up the
one run on five hits, and striking out six batters.
Michael Walker and Kyle Bogese both pitched two shutout innings
to finish off the win. Walker struck out three batters, while
Bogese fanned five, and both allowed just one hit.
Christian Muscarello and Carter McEachern collected two hits
each on the day, joining Hirschberg as the only Tigers with
multiple hits in the game. McEachern went 2-4 with a run
scored, while Muscarello scored twice and had a double.
Trinity's Connor Moore was 1-3 with a pair of runs scored, while
Chris Bianchi was 1-3 and reached two more times on walks.
This weekend, the Tigers resume SCAC play with a three-game
weekend series against Southwestern University. The teams
open with a Saturday afternoon doubleheader, then finish with a
game on Sunday.
