Box Score San Antonio - The Tiger baseball team
opened a two-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series
against Centenary College with a 3-1 loss on Thursday night.
Trinity, which is ranked third in the latest D3Baseball.com
national poll, fell to 24-6 on the season with the loss. It
marked the third loss in four meetings against the Gents this
season, as Centenary beat the Tigers two out of three games in
Shreveport, Louisiana, earlier this month.
Ryan Lucero (5-1) was charged with the loss after allowing three
runs on five hits over 5.2 innings pitched. It is the first
loss suffered by Lucero since the 2011 season, and just his third
career loss for the Tigers. Lucero suffered just one bad
inning, giving up three runs and four hits in the top of the
sixth.
Reliever Kyle Bogese shut down the Centenary offense, pitching
the final 3.1 innings without allowing a hit, and striking out five
batters.
The Tigers led early with a run in the second inning, but left
eight runners on in the game, and couldn't answer after Centenary
grabbed the lead. Trinity left two runners on in both the
sixth and eighth innings.
Will Donnan was 2-3 with a run scored, and both Donnan and Kevin
Francke hit doubles in the game. Christian Muscarello also
had two hits for the Tigers.
Trinity and Centenary will finish off the regular season series
tomorrow, with the opening pitch scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
